As I wrote yesterday, I recently traveled the North Cascades and part of Eastern Washington. Here’s part two of my trip.
The summer is drawing to a close, so I’ve trying to make the most of it. On Friday I left my house at 2:50 am to begin the 240 mile drive through North Cascades National Park and to the town of Winthrop, Washington.
I have never been that far north, and it was a very interesting trip. We attempted to summit Sourdough Mountain, but we only made it 4 miles in before turning around (buy hey, 8 miles is still a pretty good hike). We also stopped at Diablo Lake, which might be one of the coolest places on the planet! The water is incredible.
Then we stopped for the night in Withrop, a western-themed town along the Methow River in the middle of nowhere. The hotel was nice and the town is really quiet.
I recorded much of the trip, so feel free to watch my video below to see what I did during the first half of the trip!
