Have you missed me yet?
I know, I know, I suck. This will be my third post this month, which is really killing the number of page-views I could be getting right now. I have neglected all of you, my dear readers, and for that I am truly sorry.
However, things are getting exciting from my point of view. I broke through. After I finished National Novel Writing Month in November, I hit writer’s block and I wasn’t motivated to write anything other than articles for the newspaper. I tried starting a few blog projects and promised all of you a few new segments, but none of those turned out. So, yeah, I basically lied to you guys. Last week changed all of that.
It was May 9th. It was a sunny day and my dad was working in the back yard, getting things ready for our big summer projects. I decided that I needed a change of scenery and I sat on the back patio with my laptop. I opened Microsoft Word and just started writing. By the time I went back inside because I had to do a few things, I had written two pages of a murder scene. Two pages was the most I had written in about two weeks, so that was very exciting.
Trying to keep on the momentum, I spent much of the 10th outlining and planning. Pretty soon I had planned out the first three chapters of a novel. I took a break for a few days, but by the end of the day on the 13th I had written two chapters. Two terrible chapters, but two chapters nonetheless. I had also started to world build and delve into the family tree of the main character, which proved to me that I was serious about this new project.
Now, here on the 18th, I have written three chapters and about six pages of the fourth. The best that I can describe this new novel is if Stephen King decided to co-direct an episode of Grimm set in Washington but decided a love story would be kind of cool. Of course, my writing isn’t as good as Stephen King’s, but you get the picture. Creatures and murders.
I would love to expand on this, but I have a school board meeting to attend in an hour. I am being honored as one of the top 65 seniors in my school district (which has over 1600 seniors in it) by the board, which is pretty cool. Apparently we get certificates and roses, so this should be fun.
Until next time,
